Work

We work with businesses that built their own thing and want to keep it that way. The job is usually to make what you already have sound, standard and yours, not to replace you with us.

Accu-Line Automotive

Automotive repair, Petaluma

Where it started. A Petaluma auto repair shop whose pages weren't being indexed correctly and weren't differentiating them from their competition. When a brake starts grinding, people search, they look at the map, and they call. The Google Business Profile and the website are the two halves of that one moment, and they only work when they are built as a set.

What we did. Built the profile and the site as one instrument, the way they should be: the same services, named the same way in both, the same address and phone everywhere a person or an algorithm goes looking, and the whole thing shaped around the searches people in Petaluma actually make. Domain, hosting and code all sit in the shop's own accounts.

Where it landed. Live since September 2026, and the shop owns every piece of it.

The Dolce Neve site we built

Dolce Neve

Specialty coffee equipment, Shopify

Where it started. A specialty coffee equipment company running its books on QuickBooks Desktop, its storefront on a Shopify store that had grown by accretion across years and themes, and its day to day work on processes that had been inherited rather than designed. None of it described a company whose customers include some of the best coffee programs in the country.

What we did. Three tracks at once. On the books, we repaired a damaged QuickBooks Desktop file and then cut it down by more than half, which is what puts a file that size within reach of QuickBooks Online at all, then stood QuickBooks Online up and configured it around how the business actually works. Alongside that we worked the business processes underneath the software rather than only the software itself. And we rebuilt the storefront: a full audit against the Shopify Admin API rather than by clicking around, a theme migration built draft-safe so nothing was ever tested on live customers, new page templates from scratch, collections cleaned up, and the mislabelled inventory states tracked down to their actual cause.

Where it landed. The storefront is in client review. The accounting migration is in its last stretch, with change management and training to follow. The method turned out to be reusable, which is the part we kept.

The Farmacopia site we built

Farmacopia

Retail and clinical, Sonoma County, Shopify

Where it started. An independent herbal pharmacy running both a clinical practice and a retail store, a business that had grown on the strength of its expertise and was ready for systems to match. The operation needed IT polish, and a massive product catalog needed to meet ADA standards.

What we did. Systems consulting across the whole operation. We migrated the business onto Google Workspace and rebuilt how the team shares work, rolled out 1Password so credentials stopped living in inboxes and in people's heads, and ran the change management alongside both so the staff adopted the new way instead of working around it. We also took on the Shopify storefront, and mapped and consolidated the domains and DNS behind it so the whole thing could finally be reasoned about. Then accessibility, starting with the biggest job: alt text across the product catalog is done, and the rest of the ADA work is underway.

Where it landed. A staff that stopped fighting their tools. Still a client, which is the part we would point at.

Token Made

Manufacturing and ecommerce

Where it started. A founder who had built a great deal of his own operation with AI, fast, and needed to know which parts were solid enough to build the next stage on.

What we did. Came in as the fractional technical lead, to harden and optimize what the AI had already built. Inventoried what existed, audited it against real best practices rather than vibes, and standardized the parts that were going to carry weight.

Where it landed. Ongoing. He still owns and understands his systems, which was the entire point.

Restaurant, Petaluma, Square Online

Where it started. An owner who had built her own site and set up her own Google listing, and had got further on her own than most people do. She did not need replacing. She needed a second set of eyes, and someone to show her where the ceiling actually was.

What we did. Audited the profile against the site before connecting anything, then went looking for where Square Online's real limits are rather than accepting the assumed ones. Several turned out to be softer than they looked: we got layout and measure further than the templates suggest, and pushed accessibility past what Square's own widget reaches. Then we walked her through how to hold it there herself.

Where it landed. Zero contrast errors, a site and profile that finally agree, and an owner who knows exactly which constraints are real and which were only rumoured. She runs it.

What every build gets

Not upsells. These are the standards, and they are the reason the work above holds up after we leave.

Built to be found, by search and by AI

Traditional SEO is table stakes: clean structure, honest page titles, real headings, schema that describes what you actually are. On top of that we build for answer engines, the AEO and GEO work of being the source ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI answers quote when somebody asks. Those two acronyms mean the same thing and the industry has not picked a winner. What matters is that a page has to answer a real question clearly enough to be worth citing, which is also just good writing.

Privacy and accessibility native, not bolted on

Contrast, focus, alt text, keyboard paths and correct heading order are part of the build, not a plugin bought after a complaint. Same with privacy: we start from collecting nothing, so the policy can describe the site truthfully and most of our builds need no cookie banner at all. Retrofitting either one costs more and works worse.

Web-first, so it is responsive by construction

We build on the web platform directly rather than on top of a page builder's abstractions, which is what lets a layout genuinely adapt instead of switching between three canned breakpoints. Fluid type, container queries, intrinsic grids. Phone, laptop and the big monitor in the back office all get a real layout rather than a squeezed one.

Built it yourself? We audit that.

More owners than ever have built real working systems themselves, with AI doing a lot of the typing. Some of it is genuinely good. The problem is that nobody has ever checked it against the standards a system needs once a business is actually leaning on it, and you cannot tell which half is which from the inside.

We audit what you built, tell you plainly which parts are sound, standardize the ones that will carry weight, and leave you owning and understanding all of it. This is the opposite of the pitch where a consultant declares your work a mess and rebuilds it on their platform.

This site is part of the portfolio

It is fast, it is accessible, it sets no cookies, and it was rebuilt off a page builder onto something we own outright. If you want to know what we would do with yours, this is a reasonable place to start looking.
